I’m Remi Juliebø, an independent graphic designer and illustrator working under the name DEFORMAT.
I’ve been doing this for nearly two decades, with most of my work rooted in music and culture, alongside identities, packaging and other commercial projects.
I like to find the thread that runs through a project. The reason things end up looking the way they do. I often think of an idea as having its own personality, something that helps guide the choices along the way. Nothing is really arbitrary unless being arbitrary is part of the idea.
I move freely between design and illustration, using drawing, typography, photography, existing material or whatever the project calls for. I care about how things are actually made too. Much of my work eventually leaves the screen as records, merchandise, packaging and print, so the physical result matters from the start.
DEFORMAT Editions is a home for art prints, riso prints, experiments and other collectibles. Things I make simply because I want them to exist.
